Judy is registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland and she is an award winning teacher of Mathematics.
Judy O'Grady MEd, MSc, BE, EMCC Dip, ITEC Dip, Capt Rtd. is a registered member of the Teachers Council of Ireland, holding a Post- Primary Masters in Education (Distinction). She was awarded 'Student of the Year' and 'Dissertation of the Year' on her Graduation with Hibernia College. She currently holds a position of Assistant Principal in a school in Cork City and she works with UCC as a Maths Tutor. She is committed to adhering to the best practice when teaching and coaching her students, which includes a commitment to ongoing professional development in her teaching of Mathematics and in her other subject areas of Physics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Graphics and Science.
Judy is a fully registered Mindfulness Teacher with the Mindfulness Teachers Association of Ireland (MTAI). As a Mindfulness Teacher she is also committed to adhering to the Best Practice Guidelines developed by the Mindfulness Teachers Association of Ireland, which includes a commitment to daily meditation and mindfulness practices, attendance at retreats, ongoing professional development and in being supervised in her teaching. The qualities cultivated as a Mindfulness Teacher enhance her teacher skills with teenagers.
Judy is also a registered coach with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC). She qualified with a diploma in Coaching, with distinction, from EDelia Group.
Today, coaching is very popular. Coaching really is a partnership between a coach and a coachee, which in this context refers to teacher and student. Through active listening, effective questioning, use of coaching tools and models, a space for development and growth is created. Judy uses these coaching skills in her teaching sessions at every opportunity.
Judy initially qualified as a Civil Engineer at UCC in 2000. She then worked as a civil engineer at consultancy level for three years, prior to joining the Defence Forces where she served as an officer in The Corps of Engineers. She served a total of thirteen years in the army where she held leadership positions as both platoon commander and company commander at home and in dangerous overseas deployments. Whilst in the Defence Forces, Judy became a Chartered Engineer and completed a MSc. in Fire Safety Engineering with the University of Ulster. She was also awarded 'Dissertation of the Year' on graduation from this University.
